Priest serving as head of women's shelter is accused of rape

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A suspended Catholic priest who is the head of a women's shelter in Fernley is accused of sexual abuse, as reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal.
The RGJ reports Thomas Cronin is accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl in Missouri in 1979. He was put on suspension by the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City in October of 2010 after a civil lawsuit was filed regarding the sexual assault of the 17-year-old girl.
Cronin is the head of Rachel's Sanctuary, a women's shelter in Fernley, according to the RGJ.
The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) released a statement as warning against Cronin and urging him to be removed from his position as head of the shelter. No trial for him has been set as of yet.
